Saughton Park was re-opened on 6 June 2019, by HRH The Princess Royal, after substantial works had been carried out.
The 34 acre site includes playing fields, play areas, the biggest skateboard park in Scotland and formal gardens. On top of this it is flanked on two sides by the Water of Leith which brings its own wildlife with it.
The formal garden at Saughton Park has the largest herbaceous border in Edinburgh. You’ll find heather and flower beds, a glass Winter House for more exotic plants, a Physic Garden, a sunken Italian garden and a rose garden. In addition to the above, a refurbished bandstand, statues, sundial will also grab your attention.
There is plenty wildlife too, with the plants and trees attracting all sorts. If you are lucky, you will find foxes, kingfisher, heron, ducks and otters in and along the Water of Leith, right next to the park, on a daily basis.
