The first two weeks in December brought out the wildlife in Edinburgh. On a handful of occasions, I was able to photograph some of these creatures, in the low winter sun which added incredible light and atmosphere.
I also managed to get some shots of the UK’s smallest bird, the goldcrest which has a very distinctive gold/yellow mohican crown, bordered by two black strips. The woodpeckers and kingfishers have also started making a few more appearances – or perhaps I’m just seeing more of them, as most of the leaves are off the trees!
The sparrowhawks are never far away and keep all the smaller birds on their toes! Finally, Ive been very lucky, in the last two weeks, to have seen the otters on several occasions – I never take these things for granted.
