March turned into a great month for urban wildlife in and around Edinburgh – spring was clearly just round the corner!
Dippers were starting their courtship routines on the River Esk, River Almond & the Water of Leith & I managed to get a good variety of shots of them.
A little egret was spotted at Aberlady and I managed to spot an otter at Figgate Park on my return into town on the same day!
Great Spotted Woodpeckers could be heard drumming away, trying to find a mate as breeding season approaches.
The Water of Leith otters and kingfishers still seem to be affected by the floods in late December. The otters were being spotted on trail cameras but only during the night. The kingfishers had obviously changed locations but have been slowly returning.
Talking of Kingfishers – one of my kingfisher shots, on the Water of Leith, was one of the 12 finalists in the Scots Magazine Photographer of the Year competition – a huge thanks to everyone who voted for me!
