I’ve been very lucky over the last few weeks, with the amount of wildlife that I’ve managed to see, in Edinburgh & the surrounding area.
The highlights have been red squirrels at Morton Lochs & at Loch Leven; kingfishers along the River Leven, the Water of Leith & the River Almond; and spotting a Water Rail & Otters at Figgate Park. Much more was seen at Linlithgow Loch, Levenhall Links, Aberlady Bay Nature Reserve, the River Esk & Duddingston Loch.
All photos were taken in Edinburgh or within 25 mins of the outskirts of the city, with the exception of a visit to Morton Lochs, at Tayport, which was an hour from the west of Edinburgh. Here are some shots, from these locations, over the last three weeks:
