I headed off to Melbourne, Australia in January 2026, for 3 weeks, to visit our daughter. Whilst I was there, I was obviously hoping to photograph some of the wildlife.
I managed a 5 day trip around the wider Melbourne area, including Phillip Island to the south east of Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road to the west. I then spent several mornings within Melbourne & Sydney visiting the city parks, rivers and botanic gardens.
Highlights were obviously seeing Australia’s iconic creatures, in the wild for the first time – Kookaburras, Kangaroos & Koalas – but the top highlight was seeing the Flying Foxes on the Yarra River in Melbourne.
